We've said it before and we'll say it again - artificial, fake, lab-grown diamonds are just the Emperor's New Clothes and are a complete con.
Firstly, before we take more of a deep dive, here's a really quick 55 second video that gives you the quick facts on why artificial laboratory made diamonds are so insidious. To drive home the word 'artificial', we intentionally created this short video entirely using artificial intelligence and yes, the irony was intentional...
In our more expansive YouTube video below, our CEO & Co-Founder Dylan Pemberton speaks out transparently with more detailed facts on why lab diamonds have zero intrinsic value, why they are certainly not ethical or environmentally friendly, why the claims of them being sustainable are utterly misleading, why they are absolutely not the same as real, natural diamonds, why the FTC, GIA and other leaders agree on this, how We Love Diamonds typically sells the real deal for the same (or less) and much more.
Hans Christian Andersen's tale of the "Emperor's New Clothes" was an idiom of course but in the context of lab-made diamonds, we're seemingly living in a world where consumers believe what everyone else believes - just because the charlatans and the industry fat-cats with vested interests and misleading marketing tell you to. Metaphorically, they would have you falsely believe that whether the Emperor has clothes on or not, anyone who believes otherwise is ignorant. As expert diamantaire's we can say with absolute authority that we're certainly not ignorant and we're thus not fooled. No matter how profitable they may be (given how dirt cheap and easy they are to manufacture), we simply won't ever sell-out by using lab-grown diamonds in our luxury diamond jewellery. Ever. They are an affront to the continium of rarity. You can also learn more about laboratory manufactured diamonds in our other blog article here and even why Pandora's artificial lab-made diamond jewellery collection is certainly not the value they'd have you believe here. Real is indeed rare so, wherever you shop, save yourself a world of pain by only ever buying natural diamond jewellery. Ultimately, if you are on a really tight budget and are happy with what's essentially just costume jewellery then go and buy cubic zirconia or moissanite jewellery because that will be a lot cheaper than buying worthless laboratory grown diamonds. Don't forget though, our luxury natural diamond jewellery is always sold at way below market value and that, for most purchases up to £2,000, interest-free instalment payments are available which makes buying the real thing even more accessible. Remember, without you they're just diamonds.
